The day has come. Secret Sicily has finally landed on Etsy! That’s right, the hipsterish version of Amazon (without the low wages) is now home to a range of Sicily and travel-inspired products designed by me.
Here’s the first one: a set of two Palermo ‘survival’ badges for arancina lovers, which will help you make a good impression on your first visit to Palermo! This is a limited edition, so get your hands on one as soon as possible.
For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s a simple explanation.
What is arancina?
Arancina is one of the most famous street foods from Palermo. It’s a deep fried rice ball, stuffed with meat or cheese. If you’ve never tried it, you’re missing out big times.
What does ‘Arancina è fimmina’ mean?
Well, glad you asked…
It means ‘arancina is female’ in Sicilian, and here’s why:
People from Palermo insist that arancina’s name is feminine (i.e. written with an a at the end), while people from Eastern Sicily (wrongly) call it arancino. This badge will help you show people from Palermo that you stand by their side, and perhaps you’ll even get a free arancina!
